Use skills with Cursor Cloud

Cursor Cloud checks out your repository on a remote VM. That VM has no ~/.local/share/skl library and cannot follow a symlink into your home directory. The agent only sees files that are in the repository. The same applies to any other remote checkout.

Commit the copies

From the project root, make sure every listed skill is a real copy, then commit:

skl sync
skl use --all
git add .agents/skills skills.toml
git commit -m "Add agent skills"

skl use writes copies by default, so a project you set up with skl use <name> already has real directories. skl use --all rewrites every skill listed in skills.toml from this machine's library and turns any leftover symlinks into copies. skl does not run git add for you.

Keep .agents/skills out of .gitignore. Do not add --link to a skl use command whose result you want to commit.

Check a project before you push

skl doctor

Under == Linking, doctor lists the mode of each skill in skills.toml and prints a warn line for any symlink that a remote agent cannot follow. Fix it with skl use --all.

Refresh after you change a skill

A committed copy is a snapshot. After you edit a skill in the library, run skl use --all in each project that uses it and commit the change.
